I went for a walk today to reset.
A friend shared a simple cue: **walk like you’re wearing a cape.**
Not stiff. Not forced.
Just upright, open, and calm — as if your shoulders are gently supported, and your chest has space to breathe.
I tried it for part of the walk and noticed something:
When my posture rises, my mind often settles.
When I move with control, I feel more connected.
It turned a section of walking into a moving meditation.
Practice (2 minutes on any walk):
• Imagine a cape resting on your shoulders.
• Chest open (soft, not puffed). Chin level. Jaw unclenched.
• Long exhale as you take 10 slow steps.
• Repeat for 1–2 minutes, then return to normal walking.
Slow and steady. 👣
Why this works
Posture changes breathing, and breathing changes the nervous system. A simple physical cue also gives the mind something calm to focus on, reducing mental noise and helping you reset without overthinking.
